A new chapter in London: Laura McGinnis joins Singular as Partner

We will keep the opening simple, because the news does not need dressing up: Laura McGinnis is joining Singular as a Partner, based in our London office.

Here is something people do not always realise about us. Singular is a small team by design - a handful of people carrying big funds - and we keep it that way on purpose. It forces us to prioritise, to stay accountable and to be genuine sparring partners to founders who want to deal with people, not a platform. So every new face is a real moment for us. Laura was an obvious one.

Why now

This lands at a big moment for Singular. Since we started in 2020, we have backed a generation of founders doing real, measurable things - from Aikido, which reached unicorn status this year and is rethinking cybersecurity for an AI age, to Basecamp Research, bringing AI to life sciences, to Vibe, the self-serve platform for performance marketers recently acquired by Walmart.

We built the firm on one conviction: the best founders deserve a partner with real conviction from day one, plus the depth, networks and staying power to go all the way with them as they scale. Deepening our roots in London

Alongside Paris, London has become a magnet for founders pairing world-class AI research with the ambition to build something globally significant, and bringing Laura on is how we back more of them, earlier and closer to where they build.

Why Laura

Laura brings nearly a decade of investing and operating across consumer technology, energy and cybersecurity - partnering with founders from formation through scale. She started on the operating side, working across product marketing, strategy, go-to-market and brand, and it still shapes how she invests today: hands-on, close to the detail, and grounded in what it actually takes to build.

But the real reason she fits is simpler. Laura invests the way we do: with conviction, close to founders and she carries the rare mix of authenticity and work ethic that makes our DNA Singular.
